Cognitive Apartheid

The emerging divide between those who direct AI and those directed by it.

Cognitive apartheid refers to the growing societal split between people who develop the skills to orchestrate AI systems effectively and those who become increasingly dependent on and directed by them. Unlike the digital divide, which was about access to technology, cognitive apartheid is about the capacity to think with and through technology rather than being thought for. It represents one of the most significant risks of the AI transition.
